Evocative's Network -- Redundant Architecture and Quality Components

Evocative's network offers its colocation and managed services customers the security of an "always on" network. We've chosen industry-leading Cisco carrier-class routing and switching equipment, and first-tier bandwidth providers, to create a blended, redundant network connectivity offering that we back with a 100% uptime SLA.

Edge routers are Cisco GSR carrier-grade systems with redundant router processors, ensuring blazing packet handling even with a system in failure. Our core switches and routers are also Cisco modular platforms, creating a fully meshed network that responds instantly to failures with real-time changes in link selection and routing. Evocative can extend its redundancy to the customer by offering two or more ethernet hand-offs to disparate access switches, enabling quick, unattended, cooperative response between Evocative's equipment and the customer's to a customer equipment failure.

Evocative's Emeryville Data Center is a "lit facility" with Qwest, Verizon Business (MCI/UUNet), and AT&T (SBC) SONET rings. Evocative also maintains its own dark fiber connectivity to the carrier hotel at 200 Paul Avenue in San Francisco. Using BGP4 and a combination of OC-level circuits and gigabit ethernet circuits, Evocative creates redundancy with rapid convergence and low latency.

Customers in colocation can choose the bandwidth product that best suits their needs and budget:

• Our standard Blended Redundant product offers the combined reliability of BGP4 routing between Qwest, Savvis, and UUNet delivered over POS (Packet Over SONET) circuits directly to our facility. This is the option most often chosen by our customers, and offers burstable bandwidth with CIRs from 1Mbps to multi-gigabit.
• Our Carrier-Directed product allows the customer to choose the carrier they wish to use for primary service, with redundancy provided by an additional carrier of the customer's choosing or by using Evocative's blended redundant product. Carrier-directed bandwidth can be fixed or burstable.
• Customers may also order circuits from any of the carriers in Evocative's facility, or at the 200 Paul location, and have those circuits cross-connected to their cabinet or cage. Redundancy can be provided by additional customer-ordered circuits or using Evocative's blended redundant bandwidth product.

Fiber is Good For You

Customers within Emeryville may also be within reach of our dark fiber network, allowing them to connect their offices to their colo. This can be used to provide high-speed secure links between the office and colo, and to provide shared internet access between the two sites.

This fiber-to-office solution affords the customer access to levels of bandwidth and reliability not available from local ILECs and cable companies.
