Facility Specifications
Location and Construction
Evocative's Emeryville Data Center is located at 1400 65th Street, Suite 150, in Emeryville, California. The facility totals over 15,000 square feet, purpose-built for commercial colocation. The building in which the facility resides was retrofitted in 1999 to the highest seismic standard applicable, prior to the construction of the facility.
Colocation space is offered in individually keyed, locking cabinets or in flexible cage space. Evocative also provides managed servers, managed firewall services, and managed backup from this facility.
Carriers and Network Infrastructure

- NPA-NXX is 510-652, and the nearest Central Office is Oakland 11.
Power
- Liebert 600T Multi-module double-conversion UPS system with N+1 redundancy
- Caterpillar Generator 1MW with 1,500 gallon fuel storage, refueling contracts
- Dual automatic transfer switches with typical inter-source transfer <60 seconds (battery ride-through >20 minutes)
- Redundant critical power paths and full bypass wraparounds
- Over "six nines" uptime--far exceeds industry standards and average
- DC power also available--2400-amp DC plant (generator backed)
Cooling
- Colocation floor cooled by nine 20-ton Data Aire CRAC units and two 30-ton Liebert CRAC units.
- Two 10-ton Data Aire CRAC units and one 6-ton unit and five rooftop package units for infrastructure and office cooling.
- No municipal water dependency for full-capacity operation; generator-backed (no loss of capacity).
- Fully automated fault detection and alerting, automatically starts backup units on loss of performance.
Security
- Full-motion video capture and storage throughout site.
- All exterior and interior doors covered.
- Two-factor biometric access control.
- Full logging and altering of all granted and failed accesses, forced doors, and door props.
- Monitored security system with armed emergency response.
Fire Protection and Suppression
- VESDA aspirating laser scanner smoke detection system for early detection of smoke--much more sensitive than standard commercial smoke detectors.
- Double-interlocked dry-pipe fire suppression--pipes are filled with compressed air, and no water flows unless two zones detect smoke/fire and air pressure is lost.
- Rigorous prevention program: combustible materials such as cardboard and paper are not allowed to be stored in cabinets, for example. But, for those customers who like to have those things handy, we offer separately coded storage lockers.
Facility Monitoring
- Power, cooling, security, and other core infrastructure systems are monitored by an integrated, graphical monitoring and notification system.
- Continuous polling and data recording from HVAC, UPS, DC power plant, environmental factors (temperature, humidity), security, access control, and fire systems.
- Monitoring and logging of individual branch circuits in customer cages and cabinets.
- Alarm to staff for out-of-spec conditions.
Maintenance
- Rigorous maintenance program for all critical systems.
- Factory service on UPS, generator, and PDUs (power distribution units).
- All systems maintained at ready for 100% of capacity including redundant backup units.
Amenities
