Feature Focus: Deep Inspection
 Our managed firewalls feature Deep Inspection technology, which increases the protection capabilities far beyond that of IP filtering and stateful inspection products. With deep inspection, the firewall performs defragmentation, scrubbing, and normalization of incoming request packets, and the message is then scanned using protocol-specific rules. Pattern matching identifies data in application-level "service fields" from which the attacks are commonly launched. The firewall then decides to accept or deny the traffic based on high impact protocol anomalies or any given attack pattern in one of these application service fields. The firewall can block application-level attacks at the Internet gateway so they never reach their destination. All Managed Firewall products can perform deep inspection of HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, and DNS protocols, and detect over 600 forms of application attacks.
